Duncan-Williams Calls for Prayer to Protect Ghana’s Waterbodies and Lands from Galamsey
Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has called on Ghanaians to pray for the protection and healing of the country’s waterbodies and lands, particularly amid the devastating effects of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
According to the respected clergyman, there is an urgent need to seek divine intervention to prevent the nation’s natural resources from being further destroyed and polluted through illegal mining activities.
“Let’s pray concerning the healing of our waterbodies and land, that they won’t be poisoned through galamsey,” Archbishop Duncan-Williams said.
His remarks come amid growing concerns over the impact of illegal mining on Ghana’s rivers, forests and farmlands, with environmentalists and stakeholders repeatedly warning about the long-term consequences of the practice.
The Archbishop’s call highlights the need for both spiritual and practical efforts to protect Ghana’s environment, as the country continues to grapple with the destruction of water sources and land caused by irresponsible mining activities.
He urged the nation to remain committed to protecting its natural resources for present and future generations.
