Former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has rejected claims that he was questioned by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over alleged financial irregularities involving GH¢55 million.
Mr Aboagye, in a Facebook post following his release from EOCO custody, insisted that the alleged GH¢55 million issue was never discussed with him during his interactions with investigators.
“FOR THE RECORDS: THERE WAS NO Discussion OF ANY GH¢55million cedis with me by EOCO. None!!!”
He described his detention as an unsuccessful attempt to intimidate him, saying the experience had instead strengthened his resolve.
According to EOCO, the investigation follows a petition from the current Executive Secretary of IMCCoD concerning a forensic audit covering the period between August 2022 and February 2025. The agency says it is investigating suspected misappropriation, diversion and theft of public funds amounting to about GH¢55 million.
However, Mr Aboagye has strongly rejected the claims and said his detention did not break his spirit.
He also expressed gratitude to members of the New Patriotic Party and his supporters for standing by him during his time in custody. He said reports of demonstrations by supporters reached him while he was detained.
Mr Aboagye further reaffirmed his intention to contest for the position of NPP National Communications Director, insisting that the recent events would not stop him from pursuing the role.
EOCO has yet to publicly respond to his latest claims. The agency has also confirmed the arrest of former IMCCoD accountant Gerald Appiah as investigations continue.
