The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has announced that it has paid more than GH¢34.5 billion to Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs) for onward payment to cocoa farmers since the start of the 2025/2026 cocoa season.
In a statement issued on Thursday, COCOBOD disclosed that it has so far disbursed GH¢34,523,447,255.64 to LBCs across the country’s cocoa-growing regions to ensure farmers receive prompt payment for their produce.
The Board also revealed that it has released an additional GH¢2.6 billion to Licensed Buying Companies. According to COCOBOD, about GH¢1.4 billion of the latest disbursement will be used to clear outstanding payments owed to farmers whose cocoa was previously purchased on credit.
COCOBOD said the latest financial injection is aimed at strengthening confidence in Ghana’s cocoa purchasing system while ensuring farmers receive their earnings without unnecessary delays.
The Board reiterated its commitment to supporting cocoa farmers and maintaining the smooth operation of the cocoa value chain, describing the payments as part of ongoing efforts to sustain the country’s cocoa industry.
