Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has encouraged Ghanaians to take pride in their country and reject narratives that portray Ghana as inferior to other nations.

Speaking to a group of Ghanaians who were repatriated from South Africa aboard a government-chartered flight, the minister revealed that approximately 10,000 South Africans visited Ghana between January and June 2026. According to him, many of these visitors came in search of economic opportunities and to establish businesses in the country.

“10,000 South Africans have visited Ghana between January and June 2026, so don’t let anyone make you feel that your country is second-rate. Many South Africans come to Ghana in search of opportunities and to establish their businesses,” Ablakwa stated.

The minister’s remarks were aimed at boosting the confidence of returning citizens and reminding them that Ghana remains an attractive destination for investment, entrepreneurship, and economic growth.

His comments come amid ongoing efforts by the government to support Ghanaians abroad while strengthening diplomatic ties and promoting Ghana as a favorable environment for both local and foreign businesses.

The repatriation exercise forms part of the government’s commitment to assisting citizens facing difficulties overseas and ensuring their safe return home. Ablakwa emphasized that every Ghanaian deserves dignity and support, regardless of where they find themselves.

The statement has since sparked conversations on social media, with many users applauding the minister for highlighting Ghana’s growing appeal as a destination for business and investment within Africa.
