The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has moved to clear the air over reports suggesting that Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has withdrawn from the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) following alleged disagreements with the institution.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 29, the Ministry described the reports as false and said there has been no dispute between the Minister and GoldBod. It explained that Buah initially served personally on the board but later designated the Ministry’s Chief Director, Marcus Haligah, to represent him.
According to the Ministry, the arrangement was made in January 2026 when the Minister was handling responsibilities across two ministries. His heavy workload made it difficult for him to attend GoldBod meetings and other engagements regularly.
The Ministry stressed that the change in representation was therefore an administrative decision and should not be interpreted as evidence of conflict or dissatisfaction with GoldBod. It also pointed to ongoing cooperation between GoldBod and agencies under the Lands Ministry in areas including mineral exploration, responsible mining and land reclamation.
The Ministry has consequently urged the public and media organizations to rely on official statements when reporting matters concerning GoldBod and the Minister’s role.
