Papa Kwesi Nduom has welcomed a Court of Appeal ruling that overturned a previous High Court decision which had upheld the revocation of the licence of GN Savings and Loans Company Limited, describing it as a major step forward for the institution.
The Court of Appeal unanimously quashed the earlier High Court judgment, effectively restoring the financial institution’s position in the ongoing legal battle over its operating licence. The decision marks a significant development in a long-running dispute that has drawn attention within Ghana’s financial sector.
Reacting after the ruling, Dr. Nduom expressed optimism about the future, stating that with their licence restored, the institution is ready to contribute its quota to national development. He emphasized that they remain committed to supporting Ghana’s economic growth and helping create opportunities for businesses and individuals.
The case stems from the broader financial sector clean-up exercise that led to the revocation of licences of several financial institutions in Ghana. With this latest ruling, attention now turns to the next legal and regulatory steps, as stakeholders assess its implications for the banking and savings and loans sector.
